General American English

8:30 AM–9:30 AM Mar 30, 2019 (US - Eastern)

Participants will learn the preferred speech of most communication fields, which is GAE: General American English, which is also known as "Neutral American Speech."

We'll do this by sharing what those sounds are by reviewing IPA: The International Phonetic Alphabet. We'll go over each of the sounds, discuss the GAE Resonance, and review the primary aberrant sounds that occur in different regions of the USA.

You'll learn:

 - To understand what it means to speak General American.

 - To  begin to identify their own aberrant sounds.

 - To become aware of ways to learn GAE.
